Maitree Express is a direct train that runs from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh to Kolkata, the Indian state of West Bengal. Many people travel to India, especially in Calcutta, for travel, medical, business or study, from Bangladesh. There is communication between Bangladesh and India on road or sky. But after a long time, on April 14, 2008, Bangla New Year’s Day, rail communication was started by the Maitree Express train from Dhaka to Calcutta as a symbol of friendship of the two countries. This fully air-conditioned modern Maitree Express train creates new dimensions of communication.

Maitree Express Train Running Days and Place to leave

The Maitree Express train travels from Cantonment Station, Dhaka to Chitpur Terminal Station in Kolkata for four days a week.

Maitree Express Train Route

Maitree Express train ticket collection place and time

To go to Kolkata, India, the ticket for the Maitree Express train will be purchased from Dhaka Kamalapur Railway Station. Tickets are sold from the scheduled station counters from 9.00am to 7.00pm daily. Tickets can be collected subject to visas and passports showed by completing the prescribed form from the counter.

Maitree Express train tickets started selling 29 days before the date of the journey. At present, due to passenger pressure on this route, the advance ticket will be collected before the journey date. Return tickets from Kolkata to Dhaka can be collected from Dhaka Kamalapur Railway Station. But the allotment of the return ticket is low in Dhaka Kamlapur railway station; return tickets depend on the fate found. Besides, Maitree train tickets from Kolkata to Dhaka can be collected from Chitpur Terminal station in Kolkata.

Maitree Express Train Seat Capacity

The seating capacity of Maitree Express is 465. Both rakes have an equal number of seats in Bangladesh Railway and Indian Railway. There are four coaches in the first class cabin and four coaches of the AC chair. All courses are fully air-conditioned. Each of the first class coaches has 36 seats, and AC chair coach has 78 seats.

Weight of the goods

For traveling in the Maitree Express train, the weight of goods loaded with a passenger will be at a maximum of 30 kg and a maximum of 20 kg for children. If a passenger carries excess weight, he will be paid the charge for additional goods. The rates of additional goods are mentioned below-
